Martin Armstrong The YouTube Manipulator

Martin Armstrong has perfected the technique of endorsing himself in YouTube videos with a number of fraudulent techniques that I will expose here in great detail.

In a nutshell, he uses hundreds of sock puppet accounts and hundreds of fake "like" votes to generate and promote comments that push his own agenda while making critical comments virtually invisible.

YouTube Comments - how they work

Comments appear only on videos shown on the YouTube site - not in embedded videos on 3rd party pages.

Please notice the "Sort by" field. Users can select from it "Top comments" which is the default, and "Newest first":

Whether a comment appears in "Top comments" is governed by a YouTube algorithm which is influenced by, amongst other factors, its number of votes and recency. ALL comments are only available with "Newest first".

Threaded Comments

When a comment is replied to, a thread is created which shows replies under the root comment. How many replies are shown depends again on the selection "Top comments" vs "Newest first". Replies are again classified by a YouTube algorithm, meaning that even replies are either "Top" or not. If any replies in a thread are not rated "Top", then with the "Top comments" setting, the number of replies is reduced  because the other replies are not shown.

The Model Case

I use the video How the World Really Works | Martin Armstrong which is one of Armstrong's major web assets. He refers to it as one of his documentaries. At the time of this writing, it has 403,000 views and 1,072 comments, of which about 300 comments are critical of Armstrong - negative, "anti Armstrong" as I call them.

Interestingly, these anti Armstrong comments are practically invisible as the following commenters observed:

@cranegantry868 in 2024:

Are the commenters here, his friends?

When EVERY comment is positive, you know something is up

Why are there so many vaccuous positive post on this video? This guy terrible to listen to. I smell a rat.

In contrast, Martin Armstrong himself, using his fake account @Insk to promote his snake oil, generated 92 upvotes to secure himself a position right at the top:

Armstrong's blog is a must read daily. He also has long form reports to learn from. I've been reading his writing since he had them secretly released from his illegal incarceration. Socrates is a great resource to get a heads up on what's to come. It takes a while to learn to read the indicators. MA personal analysis helps since he knows the system best. He truly is a great humanitarian...that they don't want you to know about or learn from.

Before you criticize me for exaggerating the imbalance, please let me tell you that I was shocked to see the truth. But I used this case to upvote a handful of key critical comments with hundreds of votes to give Armstrong something to chew on. I really wanted to see whether this up-voting works or not - and it does! My apologies.

Typical fake Comments

I give you just a few examples of the type of comment that the bulk is made of.

Thought Police and Cyber Bullying

Armstrong has some trusted hands who are ready to correct any wrong thinking. The most prominent one here is the account @bobann3566 who has 26 comments on this video. Example:
